I hope this email finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the veterans and taxpayers of East Contra Costa County to seek your assistance in addressing a matter of significant concern.
The County has taken possession of property purchased with funds collected through a special tax authorized under Section 4041f of the Political Code of the State of California (1921). These funds were explicitly designated for the creation of veterans' meeting places. Despite this clear legal mandate, the County now plans to place a fire station on this land—a use that directly violates the original purpose for which the funds were raised, and the property was acquired.
We believe this action constitutes a misappropriation of the property, undermining the trust of taxpayers and veterans who have relied on the County to honor its commitments.
We respectfully request guidance on how we can compel the County to cease this misappropriation and ensure the property is returned to its rightful and intended purpose. Your assistance in safeguarding the rights of veterans and taxpayers in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. Please let us know how we may proceed or if additional information is required.
Sincerely,
Board Members, Brentwood Veterans Memorial Building
